ABOUT

We established a community interest company in 2018 called Decolonising Contraception CIC, by Black and People of Colour working in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), as a radical and urgent response to inequalities experienced by our communities.

Since we started, we have built an interdisciplinary collective working in sexual and reproductive health, including sex educators, doctors, campaigners, journalists and researchers. Together, we have organised across public engagement, research, policy, advocacy and collective care. We have also built global coalitions both within and outside the SRH field which has led to us learning and expanding the scope of our practice.

We won the Grassroots initiative of the Year 2020 at the Sexual Health Awards.

In 2022, we transitioned into a charity, Reproductive Justice Initiative, to reflect the reproductive justice work we were doing.

At Reproductive Justice Initiative, we are committed to developing a radical approach to reproductive health and rights that seeks to address the complex social, economic, and political factors that impact individuals’ reproductive lives.
